Coupeville loses 1st league match but eyes conference crown / Tennis

One streak ended but another one is still alive for the Coupeville High School tennis team.

The Wolves lost 4-3 at Chimacum Tuesday, April 24, suffering their first Olympic League setback since joining the conference four years ago.

Coupeville also dropped a non-league match 4-1 to visiting South Whidbey Wednesday, April 25.

While the Wolves’ string of 17 consecutive conference wins was snapped, they still have a chance to collect their fourth straight league championship before exiting the Olympic League this spring.

Coupeville (2-1, 4-7) plays Klahowya (0-3, 1-10) in a doubleheader in Silverdale at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 26, and Chimacum (3-1, 4-7) hosts the Eagles Tuesday, May 1.

If the Wolves and Cowboys win out, their regular-season finale at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in Coupeville will decide the Olympic League championship.
