Coupeville cools off; Sequim doesn’t / Softball

Coupeville’s offense cooled the second half of the game but Sequim’s did, and the Sequim softball team spoiled Coupeville’s Senior Night 13-5 Wednesday, May 9.

Sequim led by one, 6-5. after three innings. From that point, Coupeville put up only zeroes as Sequim pulled away.

“Sequim hit the ball very well,” Coupeville coach Kevin McGranahan said. “They seemed to find our gaps in the outfield and took advantage of them. We played pretty good defense, just a lot of well-placed hits.”

McGranahan noted that the seniors had a good game in their final contest on the Coupeville field: “Lauren (Rose) scoring twice and had a hit, Katrina (McGranahan) with two hits and scoring once and Hope (Lodell) had a triple.”

Veronica Crownover and Scout Smith each added a hit and RBI.

Catcher Sarah Wright threw out two base runners.

Coupeville (11-6) finishes the regular season at Port Angeles against the Roughriders’ junior varsity at 3:45 p.m. Friday, May 11.
