Coupeville competes at King’s / Cross country

Seven Coupeville cross country runners competed at the King’s Roller Coaster Trail Run Saturday, Sept. 22, in Shoreline.

The meet featured a three-mile course and competitors from 14 schools.

Coupeville’s Catherine Lhamon finished 13th (22:02) in the varsity girls race, and Alana Mihill nabbed 34th (24:34) out of 61. Naomi Smith of King’s captured the race in 18:01.

The Wolves’ Sam Wynn placed 37th (19:39) out off 49 in the varsity boys race won by Northwest Christian’s Cameron Nielsen (16:44).

In the junior varsity boys race with 85 athletes, Uriah Kastner took 40th (22:53), Kyle Burnett 50th (23:43), TJ Rickner 51st (23:45) and Chris Ruck 57th (24:07). King’s Josh Vasquez took first (18:51).

Coupeville did not field enough runners to qualify for team scores.

The Wolves will travel to South Whidbey with the other North Sound Conference schools for a 4 p.m. meet Thursday, Oct. 4,.
