The Coupeville High School tennis team all but wrapped up the Olympic League 1A title with a 4-3 win over visiting Klahowya Friday, Oct. 9.

The win completed a three-match sweep by the Wolves (3-0, 4-2) of the Eagles (2-3, 3-9) this fall, and now Coupeville needs to win only one of its three matches with winless Chimacum/Port Townsend (0-6) to lock up the championship.

The biggest challenge facing Coupeville is taking the court against Chimacum/Port Townsend. Their first two scheduled matches were not played. The first was postponed because Chimacum/Port Townsend was short players; the second was rained out.

The two teams are next scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Coupeville.

Wolves’ coach Ken Stange said he isn’t sure if the two postponed matches will be made up.

In Friday’s win over Klahowya, Coupeville collected wins in first singles and in second through fourth doubles.
