Cold-shooting ‘Cats fall at Meadowdale / Girls basketball

Getting just 3 points in the middle two periods, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team lost 56-20 at Meadowdale Monday, Jan. 20.

The Wildcats were down 15-9 after the first quarter but hit only one free throw in the second frame as the Mavericks pumped in four three-pointers and zipped to a 29-10 halftime lead.

Meadowdale then outscored Oak Harbor 13-2 in the third quarter to go up 42-12.

Anna Jones scored 11 of Oak Harbor’s 20 points. Mikhaela Cortez had 4, Grace Waite 2, Payton Parks 2 and Olivia Waite 1.

Alicia Morrison tallied a game-high 13 for second-place Meadowdale (6-1, 10-3).

Oak Harbor (0-8, 6-8) entertains Stanwood (2-4, 4-8) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21.
