Lack of offense burned the Oak Harbor High School baseball team once again as it fell 3-1 at Marysville Getchell Friday, April 11.
The win completed a sweep of the three-game series for the Chargers (4-4, 6-4) and sent the Wildcats (1-7, 1-10) to their seventh straight loss.
Oak Harbor plays Stanwood (6-2, 7-3) three times this week at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, and Friday, April 18, the clubs play in Oak Harbor; Wednesday they meet in Stanwood.
Singles by Nate Stanford and Kevin Johnson were the Wildcats’ only hits in the loss to Getchell.
In the fifth inning, Stanford drove in Teddy Peterschmidt, who reached on an error, with a sacrifice fly for Oak Harbor’s only run.
The Wildcats left the bases loaded twice, including in the seventh. In all, Oak Harbor stranded eight, six in scoring position.
Oak Harbor’s Danny Wolfe pitched an eight-hit complete game, striking out seven. The Chargers hit three doubles in the game, one in the first, second and fourth innings, and each drove in a run.
