‘Cats make Everett work for win / Tennis

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team put up a fight before falling 5-2 to first-place Everett Wednesday, April 18, at Clark Park.

The Wildcats won a couple of tight matches. In fourth singles, Taliah Black eked out a 7-6(14), 4-6, 1-0(9) win, while Elaine Aguirre and Annie Salinger squeaked out a 7-6(5), 7-5 win in third doubles.

MJ Timm suffered a close loss in third singles, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.

Maddie MaKenzie (6-1, 6-0) and Emma Wezeman (6-3, 7-5) dropped the first two singles matches.

Danielle Lonborg and Shaina Aguirre (6-3, 6-1) and Sierra Brackeen and Johanna Schmidt (6-2, 6-2) lost in first and second doubles.

Oak Harbor (1-4, 2-7) travels to Marysville-Pilchuck (2-2, 3-4) for a 3:30 p.m. match Friday, April 20.
