‘Cats have tough time at Terrace | Girls basketball

Nothing seemed to go right as the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team lost 67-18 at Mountlake Terrace Friday, Jan. 10.

The Wildcats started the game with five consecutive turnovers and the Hawks rolled to a 23-6 first-quarter lead.

Then, Oak Harbor managed only two points in each of the next two quarters as Terrace led 51-8 at halftime and 63-10 at the end of the third period.

The Wildcats shot only 15 percent on two-point field goal attempts and 17 percent on threes. They also were shutout at the foul line.

And, to top it off, four Oak Harbor players were sick with the flu, according to coach Jon Atkins.

Annie Leete sank three three-pointers and scored 11 points for Oak Harbor.

Julie Jansen, Bryn Langrock and Deja Bunch each score two points.

Samantha Romanowski scored 22 points and Maddy Krisjanson 20 for the Hawks (4-1, 9-3), leaders of the Wesco 3A South.

Oak Harbor (0-5, 0-11) returns home to play Shorewood (2-3, 8-4) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
