It was two-and-out for the North Whidbey Little League Major all-stars (11/12) in the District 11 tournament at Bakerview Park in Mount Vernon.
Burlington buried North Whidbey early with an eight-run first inning on the way to a 14-2 five-inning win Monday, July 11, in a loser-out game.
Burlington rapped out 12 hits and took advantage of six North Whidbey errors to roll to the easy win.
The winners had six runs before recording an out in the big first inning. Burlington added a five-run fifth inning to seal the game.
Meanwhile, North Whidbey struggled offensively, collecting only two hits (a first-inning single by J.J. Mitchell and a fourth-inning single by Michael Aydelotte) before the fifth when it scored its two runs.
In the fifth, Dylan Bailey reached on an error and scored on Kevyn Johnson’s double. Johnson scored on a single by Taylor Kolste.
Relief pitcher Bailey had seven strikeouts and only one walk in just over four innings of work.
