The Oak Harbor High School tennis team took the top-two singles matches but Mount Vernon won the rest, as the Bulldogs defeated the host Wildcats 5-2 Friday, March 20.

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team took the top-two singles matches but Mount Vernon won the rest, as the Bulldogs defeated the host Wildcats 5-2 Friday, March 20.

Oak Harbor’s Makenzie Perry captured the first singles match 6-2, 6-3; and AnnaBelle Whitefoot prevailed 7-6(4), 6-4 in a marathon second singles match.

In third singles, Tamia Rios lost in three sets, 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-1; and in fourth singles, Alyssa Eden fell 7-5, 6-4.

All three Oak Harbor doubles teams lost: 1, Hannah Gluth/Ellysa Bonganay, 6-1, 7-6(7); 2, Erina Horikawa/Emma Lerch, 6-2, 6-0; and 3, Patrice Woodworth/Lauren Aspery, 6-4, 6-0.

In an exhibition doubles match, Oak Harbor’s Elma Marie Empinado and Julia Smith won 8-6.

Oak Harbor (0-2) entertains Ferndale (0-1) at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 23.
