Blue Heron record 11 wins / NWAC

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club gathered 11 firsts at the Age Group Invitational at Mukilteo’s Kamiak High School Feb. 24-26.

This meet was one of two series offered by Pacific Northwest Swimming during the short course season to prepare the swimmers for the upcoming championship meets.

Kiersten Tyson, 10, collected six of the 11 wins to pace the Blue Heron.

Lindsay Brown, 11, came from behind to win the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke; Ashleigh Merrill, 13, eked out a win in the 100 breaststroke; and Chris Shashaty, 10, won the 100 free and led from start to finish to take the 100 backstroke.

Haley Borja, Jasmine Borja, Lola Chargualaf, Caitlin Dennen, Lecya Santiago, Nick Shashaty and Robin Zemlo all recorded life-times bests and qualified for the finals.
