Marysville-Pilchuck parlayed 12 hits, six walks and five Oak Harbor errors into a 16-2 five-inning rout of the Wildcats on the OHHS diamond Tuesday, March 30.

The defending conference champion Tomahawks are currently 5-0 and atop the Wesco North standings. They are also ranked No. 7 in the state in the first baseball poll released earlier this week.

M-P burst to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and the Wildcats never recovered. Its 12 hits included six doubles and a triple.

Oak Harbor managed just four hits, two by Jay Stout. Stout also had a double, run and RBI. Yale Rosen and Josh Evans, who took the loss, collected the other Wildcat hits.

Coach Tyson VanDam saw no positives in the loss and was particularly upset with the Wildcats’ shoddy defense.

Marysville-Pilchuck (3-0, 5-0) and Oak Harbor (0-3, 3-4) meet again Wednesday, March 31, at M-P at 4 p.m.
