Ten of Archbishop Thomas Murphy’s 13 hits went for extra bases as the Wildcats powered by host Coupeville 19-5 in five innings Tuesday, April 5.

ATM (9-1, 9-0), the state’s third-ranked 2A team, slugged five home runs, two triples and three doubles to remain on top of the Cascade Conference standings.

After a scoreless first inning, the Wildcats scored at least four runs in each of the next four innings to coast to the win.

Coupeville picked up a run in the fourth and four in the fifth.

In the fourth, Ian Smith and Alex McClain singled and then Smith scored on Jake Tumblin’s base hit.

In the fifth, Wade Schaef walked with one out, and then Morgan Payne and Drew Chan singled to load the bases. Smith singled in one run, then McClain singled in two more. Tumblin walked to reload the bases, then Brian Norris’s grounder to second plated the final run.

Coupeville (1-7, 0-4) goes to Archbishop Murphy Wednesday, April 6, and to Meridian Thursday, April 7, for a nonleague game.  The next home game is Wednesday, April 13, with Granite Falls; all the games start at 4 p.m.
