The North Whidbey Aquatic Club Aquajets scored 16 points to place second in the five-team Cascade Swim Club Invitational Nov. 8 and 9 at Seattle’s Helene Madison Pool. The meet was won by the host Cascade Swim Club with 40 points. Leading the Aquajets was Laura Rosen, who won six individual events in the girls 13- to-14-year-old division.

Cullen Wood had five victories in the boys 8-and-under category and Caley Powers placed first in four races in the boys 11- to-12-year-old age bracket.

Also winning events for NWAC were John Hu, Jacob Jepsen, Joey Jepsen, Kasha Trisler and Kennedy Trisler.

Trisler led the list of Aquajets with new Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships qualifying times, making the cut in four 11- to-12-year-old girls events including the 200 butterfly (2:48.61), the 200 breaststroke (2:59.61), the 500 freestyle (6:16.86) and the 100 breaststroke (1:24.68).

Other new qualifying times were achieved by Irysh Concepcion, Emily Huffer, Jacob Jepsen, Olivia Meyer, Marissa Morris, Lauryn Plush and Molly Vagt.

Notching new qualifying times for next March’s Western Region Sectional Championships, involving the top swimmers in 10 western states, were John Hu in the boys 15-and-older 100 breaststroke and Josh Jepsen in the boys 13- to-14-year-old 200 backstroke.

Four Aquajets finished the meet with 100 percent individual and relay best times. These competitors were Irysh Concepcion, Kevin Levy, Grace Murphy and Chris Trisler.

NWAC next competes Nov. 22 and 23 at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational in Edmonds, where it will field a team of 59 competitors.
