Three of four Oak Harbor boys’ tennis entrants won their first round matches at the Wesco North Championships Wednesday in Stanwood.
In singles action, No. 2 seed Derek Thomas defeated Stanwood’s Joey Zingrelli 6-1, 6-0. No. 8 seed Josh Evans won over Arlington’s Tucker DeGraffenreid 6-2, 6-2.
No. 8 doubles seed Ben Cardinal and Max O’Dell beat Stanwood’s Zack Meyer and Drew Pollock 6-4, 6-4.
All of the Oak Harbor winners advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals.
Unseeded David DeGuzman and Chase Edwards lost to No. 2 seed Jared Rumsey and Lucas Stevens of Marysville-Pilchcuck 6-3, 6-3 and were eliminated.
