2 Wildcat girls place at Everett; boys take 5th at PanCan / Wrestling

Two members of the Oak Harbor High School girls wrestling team placed at the Everett Lady Classic Saturday, Jan. 19.

In other wrestling news, the Oak Harbor boys team won two of four matches at the PanCan Duals Saturday at Highline.

The Wildcats girls’ Ella Erickson (115 pounds) finished third and Diandra Dominguez (155) nabbed fifth at Everett.

Isabella Moss (125) and Taylor Cress (125) also won matches but did not place.

In all, six Wildcats participated in the tournament.

“The tournament was very competitive, and our girls had some great matches,” coach Brian Farmer said. “We are very pleased with our progress up to this point and are looking out to finishing the next two weeks before postseason.”

The boys placed fifth at the PanCan Duals. The Wildcats lost to Quincy 54-21, beat Skyline 57-15 and lost to Bonney Lake 37-33. In the match for fifth and sixth place, Oak Harbor topped Highline 56-24.

No individual results were submitted.

The Oak Harbor girls head to Snohomish for a scramble at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and then close out the regular season at the 42-team Lady Knights Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Mariner High School.

The Wildcat boys (0-4, 6-9) host sixth-ranked and league leading Marysville-Pilchuck (4-0, 9-0) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
