Losing a first-set thriller took the gas out of the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team in its 3-0 loss at Stanwood Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Spartans (2-0, 2-1) pulled out a heart-stopping 30-28 win in the marathon first game and used the momentum to collect the next two sets 25-18, 25-20.

Hailee Blau had 11 kills, two blocks and two aces for the Wildcats. Andrea Ruben chipped in with 19 assists and three aces.

Oak Harbor (1-1, 2-2) returns home to face Shorewood (1-1, 1-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.
