Letter: Island Amateur Radio Club provides a great service

Editor,

The quiet professionalism of the Island Amateur Radio Club extends well beyond what most people see them doing, that is directing traffic at Whidbey Island events.

Their leadership attends committee meetings prior to an event, provides detailed safety and staffing plans, and throughout the year conducts member training.

During the event, they coordinate and communicate with law enforcement and the host agency.

Their members volunteer countless hours to keep our events safe and let the rest of us have fun.

They truly fulfill their mission statement to use their radio skills in service to the community.

Thank you, Island Amateur Radio Club members for all of your work during Whidbey Island events.

Lynda Eccles,

Executive Director Coupeville Chamber of Commerce and Karen Whelan
