Travis Tull Swink

Travis Tull Swink, 31, died Sept. 2, 2003 in Anacortes. He was born Aug. 12, 1972, in Moses Lake. Travis attended school in Moses Lake, through Junior High. He finished his high school years in Mount Vernon, graduating with the Class of 1990.

Travis joined the U.S. Navy after high school and was assigned to the Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Division. Travis was a HT-1DV (E-6) and was a member of EODMU-11 dive team. Travis was stationed in Connecticut and attended University of Illinois, where he graduated cum laude, receiving his degree in workforce/adult education. He was also a master training specialist with four years teaching experience in the military.

Travis recently accepted the position of coordinator for Partners in Education program, representing EODMU-11 with Oak Harbor School District. Travis loved diving. He enjoyed reading, football and most of all, loved his involvement with EOD.

Travis Swink is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shelley and Rick Erickson of Chewelah and by his father Nathan Erickson of Hawaii. He is also survived by one brother, Brandon Erickson of Spokane, and one sister, Nicole Erickson of Chewelah, and his grandmother, Harriet Swink of Prosser.

Funeral services for Travis Swink will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake, with military honors provided by Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Honor Guard. Cremation will follow with inurnment at Moses Lake. Arrangements by Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
