Thomas Diffley Coughlin, 63, of Camano Island died suddenly Aug. 23, 2004. He was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Wenatchee.
Tom attended Seattle Prep, Gonzaga University and the University of Washington in preparation for a distinguished law career. At the time of his death, he was an Island County district court judge in Oak Harbor.
Tom married his wife of 40 years, Lynda Jo Seelye, Aug. 22, 1964, in Bellingham.
He is survived by a son, Clancy Coughlin, wife Kimberlee, grandchildren Kailee and Ryan of Westland, Mich.; daughter Sara Alwert, husband Mark, grandchildren Taylor and Jacob of Kodiak, Alaska; daughter Kate Flickner, husband Doug and a soon-to-be-born baby of Camano Island; two brothers, Admiral John Thomas Coughlin, ret., and wife Mary of Seattle; and Joseph William Coughlin of Seattle; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph and CeCelia Gertrude (Diffley) Coughlin, and a sister, Sister Magdalen Coughlin CSJ.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Stanwood, 2:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28.
