Ted Hanks

Ted Hanks died Feb. 21, 2003. He was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Werner, N.D.

He married Lucille De Vries in June, 1941 and had two daughters, Lorna Vaughn of Coupeville and Marilee James of Yuma, Ariz. They moved to Coupeville in 1953. Lucille preceded him in death in 1955. He married Jewell Williams in 1957; she passed away in 1996.

Ted had his own construction and concrete business in Coupeville for many years. He was very active in the Coupeville community. He was a long standing member of the Central Whidbey Sportsmen’s Association, and a member of the Eagles. He was one of the original founders of the Whidbey Island branch of the Eagles. Ted served for many years on the board of the Island County Parks Department.

He will be missed by his daughters Lorna and Marilee and his two step-daughters from his marriage to Jewell, Margaret Pixley of California and Betty Moore of Tuscon, Ariz.; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville.
