Sylvia Karp

Sylvia “Pat” Jane Karp, 74, of Yorkville, Ill., died July 27, 2003, at Dogwood Health Care Center in Sandwich, Ill. She was born June 15, 1929, in Aurora, Ill., to Louis and Mary (Robb) Walker.

Sylvia was married Aug. 27, 1949, in Auroro, Ill., to Kenneth P. Karp and they spent many happy years together until his death May 23, 1999. Mrs. Karp was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville, Ill. She also enjoyed volunteering at Kendall County Courthouse. Mrs. Karp was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7329 in Oak Harbor and a member of Yorkville Legion Auxiliary Post No. 489. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children: Gary Karp of Oak Harbor, Patricia (Kenneth) Davis of Yorkville, Ill., Kenneth M. (Christine) Karp of North Aurora, Ill., and Mark (Lani) Karp of Mattoon, Wis.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one soon-to-be great-great-grandchild; and her sisters Carole Lakeman of Oswego, Ill., Mildred Johnson of Newark, Ill., and Kay (Clarence) Neuenkirchen of Aurora, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary; her husband Kenneth Karp; and her two brothers, Walter and Hugh Walker.

A memorial service for Mrs. Karp will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at Larson-Nelson Funeral home, Yorkville, Ill., with Father Jerome Zalonis, M.I.C., officiating.
