Suzie Best was called home to the Lord on Dec. 14, 2013, at the age of 59. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., Jan. 7, 1954.
The military moved the family to Florida, Georgia and finally to Oak Harbor in 1971, which became Suzie’s home.
Suzie graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1973 and attended Skagit Valley College and received her associates degree. She worked many years for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco at the Seattle branch. She resided in Tucson, Ariz., and Oakland, Calif., before returning to Oak Harbor.
Suzie had a faith in God; that was a very important part of her life. She was always sharing the gospel to those around her.
Her passion was reading and teaching God’s word. Before her health declined, she enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, playing softball and being with family. She had a passion for watching boxing and football.
Her favorite football teams were the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles. She enjoyed talking to her confidants, Gabrielle Songe and Marilyn Wallace, on a daily basis. Suzie had a special bond with her sister Myrna, whom she shared many laughs, tears and special moments.
Suzie is survived by three brothers and a sister: Anthony Lott and Myrna Ford-Collins both of Oak Harbor; John Ford of Maple Valley; and Morgan Taylor of Freeland. She is also survived by a niece and seven nephews: Aishia Ford of Kent; Johnny, Jerome, Payton and Blake Ford of West Lebanon, Ind.; Jordan Chapdelaine of Lake Stevens; and Camrin and Bryson Taylor of Freeland.
