Suzanne Davis

Suzanne Davis, 67, of Oak Harbor, passed away May 1, 2016, at home with her family.

She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., in February 1949, to Max and Marion Wise.

With her family, she has lived in Florida, New York City, Tokyo and Stonington, Conn. Married to Gary Davis, active Navy, in February 1970, she traveled with him from coast to coast, including Virginia, California, Wisconsin and Connecticut.

She graduated from Baxter College in 1973 as a licensed vocational nurse. She showed great care and compassion, working predominantly with the elderly and those with special needs.

In 1987, the family moved to Paso Robles, Calif., to care for her husband’s parents, and again to Oak Harbor in 2005. Always kind and a good listener, she easily made friends everywhere she went.

In her spare time, she was a voracious reader and enjoyed singing in local choirs, playing guitar, sewing, papier-mâché art and stained glass. She also wrote poetry and dabbled in jewelry-making.

She is survived by her husband Gary Davis; her two daughters Helen Eagen and Marion Davis; and her older brother William Wise.

She was preceded in death by both her parents.

Her family would like to thank Monica Ebanks and Suzette Starnes for the great care and friendship they offered Suzanne in her time of need. Family will mourn in a private service, and we know she will be missed by very many. We appreciate others’ desire to mourn with us; however, Suzanne would have preferred a donation to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
