Susan Butler

Susan Butler, 54, 16-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at Life Care Center of Skagit Valley July 19, 2002, following a lengthy illness.

Suzi lived a life of love and dignity. She treasured the world that God created and when she was able, lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends and most of all, her Lord. Suzi was so kind and gentle and I am thankful to God for the years that I had with her.

Suzi was born in Salt Lake City May 12, 1948, to Gordon Benson Holbrook and Claire Colleen (Wamsley) Holbrook. She was raised in Salt Lake City, graduated from Skyline High School, and attended the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque for three years. She was employed as a dental hygienist and as a photo technician. She was married to James Butler in Seattle on Dec. 13, 1986.

She is survived by her husband Jim and son Matthew at home; her daughter Mindee Wakefield of Layton, Utah, and another son, Shaun McMillan of Midway, Utah; and four granddaughters, Dominique and Danielle, and Kayla Jean and Kassidy Jo; as well as numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Lee Holbrook in 2000 and by her father, mother, and stepmother.

Though we will miss Suzi, we rejoice knowing that she is in the very presence of God, and now free from the limitations of her earthly body.

A funeral service was July 23 at Family Bible Church, with Pastor James Mikos officiating. Interment followed at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Northwest Chapter, P.O. Box 33345, Seattle, WA 98133. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
