Rose Lindall

Rose Lena Lindall, 78, of Sioux Center, Iowa, formerly of Mount Vernon, died March 29, 2007 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Rose Lindall was born Oct. 18, 1928 in Oak Harbor, the daughter of Sidney and Lena (Abrahamse) Jongsma. She was raised in Oak Harbor where she attended public and Christian schools and graduated from Oak Harbor High School. In 1947 she married Nicholas Roorda of Duvall. They had a dairy farm near Duvall before moving to Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1954. To this union five children were born. Later in life, she attended Dallas School of Mortuary Science. In 1974 she married A.R. Tucker. She was a licensed mortician and embalmer and retired in 1995, moving back to Sioux Center to be near her children.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Rita (Jerry) Bolluyt of Hancock, Minn., Marjorie (Charles) Brunsting of Sioux Center, Douglas (Lori) Roorda of Las Vegas, Nancy (Arvin) Van Dam of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ronald (Debra) Roorda of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two stepsons, Ervin (Isle) Lindall of Mount Vernon and Damon (Lottie) Lindall of Round Mountain, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Franklin (Lois) Jongsma of Mount Vernon, Kathleen Boon of Oak Harbor, Mary (Al) Wright of Mount Vernon, Cornelia (Carl) Huisman of Ada, Mich., Lois (Andy) Vander Meulen of Mount Vernon, and Glenn (Josephine) Jongsma of Olympia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Martin Boon, Nicholas Roorda, Karl Lindall and great-granddaughter Bernadette Rose Brunsting.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Blackburn Road, in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made to the Mount Vernon Christian School or your favorite charity.
