Roger LeRoy Heiserman, age 82, passed away October 2, 2023, at Central Washington Hospital after complications from leg surgery.
Roger was born January 8, 1941, in Manchester Iowa to LeRoy and Ida Heiserman. Roger was the oldest of four siblings. Roger’s early life included many adventures around the Iowa rivers, hills, and corn fields hunting and fishing. Roger attended Manchester High School where he played football and painted with his father LeRoy during school and summer breaks. Roger graduated in 1959. Roger then joined the US Navy and served 4 years plus reserve time as well. After being stationed at NAS Whidbey Island where he met Vivian Bogue in which he married until her death in 2008.
Roger and Vivian and family had many camping and hunting spots where they spent most of their time when not working, being self employed along with working at P&L General Contractor in Oak Harbor. Roger had secret hunting spots for bear, deer, elk, and turkeys so there wasn’t any reason to ask where he hunted, because he always said, “in the kill zone”. Roger harvested his last deer at 81 years old with his cross bow, he lived his life with a bow and arrow at his side, most people would take it easy, but Roger was always scouting for his next place to go hunting and camping. He loved going to Twisp to camp at the family cabins listening and watching the creek go by. He enjoyed watching the hillsides looking for game so he could tell stories to his friends.
Roger and Vivian traveled across the United States in their RV after retirement for a couple of years. In 2005 they moved to Waterville Washington where they spent many hours at fairs, shows and exhibits selling Roger and Vivian’s art. After Vivian’s death, Roger ramped up the art and spent many hours making crafts in his shop and going to shows. Roger has items across the states and many items at homes here in Waterville.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife Vivian, his parents LeRoy and Ida Heiserman, his brother Duane Heiserman, and his nephew Michael Heiserman.
