Robert “Bob” H. Wright, 76, died of cancer April 13, 2002, at University of Washington Hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Weatherby, Mo. He graduated from high school in Weatherby, Mo. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served in the submarine community during World War II and throughout his career. He and Billie were married Aug. 4, 1952. From 1972 to 1974, he was command master chief of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station under Admiral Tierney. He retired after 31 years of service.
Bob enjoyed playing golf at Gallery Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Billie D. Wright, of Oak Harbor; daughters Kathy Quinn of Marysville, Robbin Wright of Oak Harbor and Dayna Moore of San Marcos, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His sister, Doris Wright, also survives.
