Robert Giles Patterson died quietly in his sleep Oct. 18, 2008 at his home on Whidbey Island. He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., Jan. 9, 1927, son of Robert and Florence Leeth Patterson.

Robert is survived by his wife Sandy, daughters Sara Patterson of Madison, Wisc., Susan Mulligan of Seattle, sons William Patterson of Hailey, Idaho and Joel Johnson, Edmonds. He was predeceased by wife Ruth Guthrie Patterson and daughter Martha Brack of Solon, Ohio. He so loved and enjoyed family, friends and especially his 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at the University Unitarian Church, 6556 35th Ave. NE at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, Port Townsend Aero Museum, Port Townsend, and the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, Ore., or a charity of your choice.
