Richard Marvin Anderson

Richard Marvin Anderson, 48, a 30-year resident of Oak Harbor, died April 20, 2006 at Island Hospital in Anacortes following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Anderson was born in Seattle on Sept. 19, 1957, to Marvin E. Anderson and Patricia A. (Barrett) Anderson. He was raised in Seattle and graduated from Shorecrest High School. Richard entered the U.S. Navy in Dec. 1975 and retired as an E-6 in Dec. 1995. He spent most of his career at NAS Whidbey, with a brief time spent in Guam. Richard enjoyed golf, billiards and working on computers.

Richard is survived by his parents, Patricia Jackson of Arlington and Marvin Anderson of Dallas, Texas; daughters Tanya Anderson of Germany and Rebecca Anderson of Mount Vernon; son Cpl. Michael Anderson, USMC, of Camp LeJeune, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kayla, Jonathan and Emily; grandmother Esther Anderson of Oak Harbor; two brothers, Steve Anderson and wife Anna of Oak Harbor and Ronnie Anderson and wife Debbie of Brier. He was preceded in death by grandfathers Marvin Anderson Sr. and Al Barrett and grandmother Dorothy Barrett.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 3 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, with Linda Haddon, Celebrant, followed by Full Military Honors under the auspices of NAS Whidbey Honor Guard. Burial at sea will take place at a later date under the direction of the U.S. Navy. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
