Reuben Pirner

Reuben G. Pirner, 81, died March 16, 2004, at his home in Eagan, Minn., after a long illness. He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Walters, Minn., the son of a Lutheran pastor who served German congregations in the upper Midwest. He spent most of his childhood in Delmont, S.D. Reuben served in the military during World War II and became an ordained minister and served a Lutheran congregation in Twin Falls, Idaho. After his honorable discharge, Reuben went on to obtain his doctoral degree from the University of Heidelberg and served as a professor of liturgy and music at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Jean, who lives at Oak Harbor Retirement Center, two sons, John and Mark and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont, S.D. Interment will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Another service will be held Sunday, March 28, at 3 p.m., at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church.
