Phillip Long

Phillip Allen Long, 64, died Aug. 15, 2011, at Living Hope Care Center, Tacoma.

He was born June 21, 1947, in Wichita, Kan., to Lloyd and Carrie Josephine Long. Phillip moved to Washington in 1963 with his parents. For the past 25 years, he has been a resident of Tacoma. He worked for a time as a custodian and in a recycling project.

Phillip loved his family. He loved following football and knew all of the statistics and history of the teams and players, especially the Michigan teams. He also had a wonderful knowledge of music. He enjoyed cherry pies, McDonald’s hamburgers and his instant coffee.

Phillip is survived by his parents, Jo and Lloyd Long of Oak Harbor; and three brothers and their spouses, David and Linda Long of Arlington, Roger and Pam Long of Ava, Mo., and Mark and Tricia Long of Seattle.

Graveside funeral services for Phillip will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at Maple Leaf Cemetery with Pastor Jon Brown of the First Reformed Church of Oak Harbor officiating. A reception will follow at the First Reformed Church. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International.
