Nancy Eleanor Heiden, a 22-year resident of Whidbey Island, died March 5, 2005, at Homestead Adult Care in Coupeville at the age of 95. Mrs. Heiden was born on Nov. 25, 1909, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to William and Anna Sewallis.
Nancy went through primary and secondary schools in Edmonton and then went on to train as a registered nurse, skills that she would eventually use after moving to the Seattle area, where she worked for Doctor’s Hospital for 10 years.
While in Seattle, Nancy met Rolland W. Heiden. They were married April 11, 1948, and lived in the Seattle area until 1983 when they moved to Whidbey Island.
Nancy attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland. She enjoyed reading and working in her garden, but most of all enjoyed taking care of her family.
Mrs. Heiden is survived by son Eric Heiden of Seattle and daughter Judy Shelton with husband Reed of Coupeville. She is also survived by two sisters, Vicky Moffat with husband Ralph of Seattle and Nellie VanPelt of Kelowna, B.C., Niece Sharon McClure with husband Hugh of Ketchum, Idaho, along with two grandchildren, Justin and Maddison Shelton of Coupeville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Roland Heiden. Arrangements by Burley Funeral Chapel.
