Michael Patrick Smart died March 30, 2005, from injuries sustained in a one-car accident in Coupeville.

Born in Beeville, Texas, March 9, 1984, to Gary and Rosemary (Cotton) Smart, Michael spent most of his life in Coupeville. While a student at Coupeville High School, Mike played football for the Wolves. He graduated from Coupeville High School with the class of 2002.

Mike had a wonderful sense of humor. He collected guns, knives and coins and loved his Mountain Dew. Mike was working at Jiffy Lube in Oak Harbor at the time of his death. Mike was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Coupeville.

Mike Smart is survived by his parents, Gary and Rose Smart of Coupeville, by one brother Gary R. Smart, Jr. of Olethe, Kan., his grandparents, Jack and Morrine Cotton of Great Falls, Mont., and his girlfriend, Kimberly Bagarelli of Coupeville.

Rosary will be recited at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 7 p.m., Monday, April 4, with Mr. Rick McCormick officiating. Funeral Mass for Mike will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, with Rev. Ronald Belisle as Celebrant. Cremation will follow with private family inurnment at Sunnyside Cemetery at a later date.
