Michael Donn Farrell

Michael Donn Farrell, 60, died Aug. 21, 2003 at his home in Oak Harbor. Mike was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Seattle and was raised in Oak Harbor. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School with the Class of 1962.

Following high school Mike went to Shelton, where he worked as a logger. He soon left the timber industry and joined the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service Mike traveled to Alaska, where he resumed logging. He also took up commercial fishing, which he continued for more than 30 years. Mike would spend his summers fishing in Alaska and would often spend his winters in Oak Harbor, Mount Vernon or Concrete. He also worked as a bartender in the off-season.

Mike Farrell is survived his sister Beverly Ruiz; two brothers, Robert P. “Pat” Farrell of Sedro-Woolley and John A.V. Farrell of Cain Lake; by three children, Yodean Christine Farrell, Yodar Christopher Farrell and Misty Rose Farrell, previous wife Blanche P. Farrell and step-daughter Jana Neligan, all of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Marie G. (Knudson) Farrell.

Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
