Melvin C. Driver, Jr., 57, died Oct. 23, 2004, at the Christian Care Assisted Living Home in New Bern, N.C. Melvin was formerly a longtime resident of Hawaii.

Melvin graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1966. He went into the U.S. Army and served for four years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Melvin is survived by his father, Melvin C. Driver, Sr., of Havelock, N.C.; by brothers Clifford of Santa Anna, Calif., Norman and his daughter Breanna of Tacoma, David of Washington State and sister Janet and her son Casey of San Diego. His mother Marian M. Driver and grandmother Levance Driver preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held Oct. 30 in Havelock, N.C. Cremation was held with private inurnment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Local arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
