Matthew Donovan Hubner
In loving memory of Matthew Donovan Hubner.
Matthew was a bright and wonderful young man. He was born in Santa Rosa, Calif., on July 21, 1992, and arrived in Oak Harbor in 1994. This year, Matthew was a popular eighth grader at Oak Harbor Middle School, where he was a member of the student government and a wrestler on the school team. He also loved the water, played the trombone, and he dreamed of finding a cure for AIDS or cancer. However, Matthew will be remembered and missed most for his loving spirit and his marvelous sense of humor.
Matthew was taken from us suddenly on Friday, April 28, 2006 when he fell while rock climbing near “the caves” on the Fidalgo Island side of Deception Pass.
Matthew is survived by his mother and stepfather Heidi and Randy Blindauer, his father and stepmother Donald and Kathleen Hubner, and by his brother Robert Hubner. He is also survived by his grandmother Mona Remme, his grandparents Don and Terri Hubner, his great grandmother Aurelia Flexen, stepsisters Holly and Jessica Blindauer, and by his stepsister and stepbrother Christy and Brooks Rice.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Middle School. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made to the Matthew Hubner Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
