Masami Jappert, 79 of Oak Harbor, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Island Hospital. She was born in Yokohama, Japan, on February 29, 1940; the daughter of Tsukumo and Yaeko (Moriya) Shibuya. She also had three brothers. As a leap year baby, she celebrated her birthday on March 1. She met the love of her life, Karl Jappert while he was on military tour there. They married on February 4, 1963 in Yokohama.

Back in the US, Masami attended Skagit Valley College and after graduation, provided food service at the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island for 29 years before retiring. Karl and Masami had two children, Thomas and Teresa.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. November 9, 2019, at the Elks Lodge in Oak Harbor.

Arrangements were in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes.
