Mary Melissa Mowry

Mary Melissa Mowry, 62, died April 18, 2003. She was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Stoddard, Wis., to Marion and Bernice McClellan. In 1950, Mary moved from Wisconsin to South Dakota and then to Wyoming. In 1951, the family moved to Oregon where Mary’s father died. Mary and her sister went to South Dakota to live with their father’s sister Frances, and her husband Bill Dumke.

Mary graduated from Hot Springs High School with the Class of 1958, got married and became a military wife, living in various places in California and Hawaii. In 1972, the family moved to Oak Harbor where Mary started her career as records information specialist/secretary for Oak Harbor Police Department. She retired in 1998 after 25 years of service.

In 1978, Mary married Richard Mowry and together they built several homes in their spare time. Mary and Dick moved to the sunshine in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in 2001, where they built their own home again.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bernice James; infant brother Richard and infant son Richard.

She is survived by her husband Richard, of the family home; children Randy Hall and wife of Kalispell, Mont., Forest Hall and wife Melissa of Gilbert, Ariz., and Carl Hall and wife Maureen of Black Hawk, S.D., Bryan Mowry of Kirkland and Lynnette Mowry of Enumclaw. Grandchildren Richard Hall, Jeremy Hall, Caetline Hall, Michael Hall, Erin Van Meter, Emily Van Meter, Hailey Van Meter, and Chloe Hall. Brothers Clarence McClellan and wife Alice of Stoddard, Wis., Stanley McClellan and wife Yong Cha of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Bernard McClellan and wife Judy of Genoa, Wis. Sister Anna Vagt and husband Ron of Phoenix. Sisters-in-law Karen and Jack Schmeider of Bellevue, Donna and Chuck Christenson of Renton and Katha and Rich Adcox of North Bend and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held April 25 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. A celebration of life and internment service was held Friday, May 2, at Snoqualmie Valley Funeral Home, 1202 Boalch Ave. N.W.
