Mary Blanton, 78, died March 30, 2006. She was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Avon, S.D., to William and Mary Krajcirik.

Mary and her late husband Virgil moved to the Oak Harbor area in 1969 after living in Seattle. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rebekah Lodge 254 and Navy Relief. She volunteered at the Oak Harbor Help House food bank and the Senior Services Center for over 20 years. She was also a member of Naval Wives Clubs.

Mary is survived by two children, Rebecca J. Blanton of Oak Harbor and Virgil Scott Blanton with wife Misty, of Coupeville. She also leaves eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers Mary requested that donations be made to the Help House in her name at 1091 S E Hathaway Street, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Private family services were held earlier in the month. Arrangements entrust
