Mary Jo Dooher Isenmann

Mary Jo Dooher Isenmann, 67, of Village Green Assisted Living in Federal Way, died May 25, 2003, in Tacoma.

She was born July 21, 1935, in Portland, Ore.

She attended St. Mary’s of the Valley in Beaverton, Ore., and Marylhurst University in Oregon. She was a teacher in Tacoma public schools for 23 years; she retired 1990.

She is survived by her ex-husband Helmut Isenmann of Maple Valley; son Mike Isenmann of Federal Way, daughters Heide Tacheron of Covington, Kathi Nelson of Tracy, Calif., and Anne Long of Portland, Ore., and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Oneita Dooher of Beaverton, Ore.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, 30525 8th Ave S, Federal Way, Monday, June 2, at 11 a.m.

The family asks that any donations be made to either the Washington Special Olympics or to Marylhurst University.

Mary Jo was a long time resident of Federal Way and taught at various schools in the Tacoma School District, spending most of her career working with developmentally disabled children. Mary Jo moved to Coupeville n August of 1994. She was a member of the Coupeville Arts & Festival Committee and took great pleasure in showing her family and friends all of the treasures that the island has to offer.
