Marvin ‘Raymond’ Jones

Raymond Jones, 61, died July 30, 2011 after a long struggle with cancer. He was born June 20, 1950 in Cisco, Ga., to Howard R. and Claudell Head-Jones.

After graduating from high school Raymond joined the U.S. Navy, working his way up in the electronics field to chief petty officer.

Raymond retired from the Navy in 1994 in New Orleans, then moved to Whidbey Island where he began his second career, building the family home. He was a member of the Chief Petty Officer’s Club and The American Legion.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Edith Jones, and brothers Ronnie Lamar Jones and Howard Russell Jones, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Patricia; sons Raymond Earl Jones (Bobbie Jo) of Salida, Calif., and Russell Howard Jones (Denise) of Stockton, Calif.; along with grandchildren Ashlee, Raymond, Jr., Kendra and Caitlin. His sisters Myra Jo Ward of Summerville, S.C., and Delolda (Dave) Waldroup of Old Ford, Tenn., and brothers Gilbert (Kaye) Jones of Cleveland, Tenn., Alvin (Judy) Jones of Cisco, Ga., and Larry (Peggy) Jones of Decautar, Ala., also survive him.

A graveside service for Raymond was held Aug. 9 at Tahoma National Cemetery. The family suggests memorials in Raymond’s name be made to Hospice Northwest.
