Marjorie Jean Brown died at Careage of Whidbey, Coupeville, on April 22, 2007. She was born in Tampa, Fla., to Benjamin F. and Iva Lurae (Ord) Walker.
Marjorie was a graduate of the University of Nebraska where she was a member of Pi Lambda Theta scholastic organization and Alpha Omnicron Pi social sorority. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a sorority for excellence in teaching, in Denver. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Alpha Chapter 325 and a charter member of St. James Methodist Church, both in Bellevue, Neb.
Mrs. Brown was a business education teacher in Bellevue, Neb., and Denver for 15 years. She then moved to Whidbey Island and worked as a medical transcriptionist at Naval Hospital Oak Harbor and Whidbey General Hospital for many years.
Marjorie is survived by her Aunt Vanita Rousar and her very good friend Delores Randall, both of Oak Harbor.
Marjorie requested no formal funeral services be conducted. Cremation was held with private family burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville at a later date. Because of her life-long love for animals, Marjorie requested memorials be made to Whidbey Island Animal Improvement Fund, P.O. Box 1108, Coupeville, WA 98239. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
