Marjorie E. N. Dyer

Marjorie Eleanor Nunan Dyer, daughter and granddaughter of Whidbey Island pioneers, died Jan. 6, 2002. She was 96.

She was born Oct. 25, 1905, in Seattle to Thomas and Alice Nunan. Her grandparents, Thomas Nunan Sr. and Elizabeth McCrohan Nunan, emigrated to Whidbey Island in 1858 and raised 12 children in Oak Harbor.

Marjorie married C. Yorke Dyer in 1943, and raised their family in Oak Harbor. Yorke preceded her in death in 1986 as did his sons Parker in 1984, Rae in 1992 and George in February of 2000.

She is survived by son Roger Gage and Susan of Langley; step-son Norman Dyer and Polly of Oak Harbor; daughter-in-law Denise Dyer Bradshaw of Oak Harbor and 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and grandnieces.

She was a grand Irish lady, loving mother, grandmother and Nana and will be sorely missed.
