Marilyn Albert passed from this life into the next March 24, 2009, after suffering many health issues related to her spina bifida. She was born the second of three daughters Dec. 9, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Urcell and Mercelle Johnson. She was graduated from Hopkins High School and attended Ausburg College as well as Brown Institute of the Air in Minnesota.

Marilyn had three passions in life: family, faith and politics. She was particularly delighted to work on the Eisenhower campaign in 1952.

While living in Omaha, Neb., she served as arrangement chairman for the Republican Professional and Business Women’s Club. She was a Central Committee Caucus chairman and a delegate for Douglas County at the State Convention. She served on the Pro Life Board of Directors that became a Pregnancy Care Center in Omaha. She joined the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle in 1970 and later helped form Trinity Church Interdenominational. She worked at the Omaha First National Bank until 1995 when she moved to Oak Harbor, to be closer to her sister, Linda.

Marilyn was often seen driving her electric scooter around Oak Harbor with campaign signs of her favorite candidates attached to all sides. She enjoyed volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Clinic and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and sister Benita Ye. Surviving her are: sister Linda McGinnis and husband “Pat” of Oak Harbor, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service for Marilyn will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. with a reception sponsored by the Republican Professional and Business Women.
