Our beloved mother, Margaret Shipley, passed away June 1, 2010, at 8:45 a.m. at Careage of Whidbey in Coupeville at the age of 91.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Shipley-Ashby, who lives in Coupeville; daughter Janet Lashua who lives in Marysville; and son Gary Shipley who lives in Arlington. She has four grandsons: Roland Ashby (wife Rhonda), Theodore Ashby (wife Melissa), Arne’ Lashua, and Kjell Lashua (wife Vera); two teen-aged grandsons: Xyle Ashby (in Florida), and Skyler Ashby who resides in Michighan. Her death was preceded in 1993 by her husband, Theodore, and later by her younger brother Kenneth Blonden and his wife, Molly, who were very close to her.

Margaret was born in Lynden, Wash., on July 19, 1918. Her parents were Ruby and Frank Blonden. She she lived her earlier years in Bellingham where she graduated from Whatcom High School and had spent a lot of wonderful times at Birch Bay where her grandparents owned a summer cabin near the beach.

She was a devoted wife and mother and her family resided in Spokane when her children were in school.

There will be a family memorial gathering at her Coupeville home Sunday, June 13.
