Lynn Clynn Christine Afenir, 54, died April 22, 2003, at Whidbey General Hospital, Coupeville, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Salem, Ore., to Carl E. and Jean H. (Webb-Bowen) Hultenberg, Jr.

Mrs. Afenir was raised in Pendleton, Ore., and Lewiston, Idaho, and Vancouver. She graduated from Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver in 1966 and attended Western Washington College in Bellingham.

She moved to Escondido, Calif., where she met her future husband and worked as an administrative assistant for the Escondido Memorial Hospital. She was medically retired from the hospital. Lynn and Robert D. Afenir were married in Las Vegas Dec. 5, 1987.

Following retirement, Lynn followed her husband’s career to New Jersey, North Carolina and eventually to Washington state in 1999. She had been a resident of Coupeville for the past four years. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in gratitude to the wonderful people who carry on a horrific struggle against all odds, while providing strength and comfort to those who suffer with this terrible disease.
