Lt. Cmdr.Adran Charles Ulman

Lt. Cmdr.Adran Charles “Bud” Ulman, USNR Retired, of Oak Harbor, died peacefully in his sleep Jan. 30, 2006, at the age of 87. He was born July 29, 1918 in Tawas City, Mich., the son of Charles and Caroline (Holzhauer) Ulman.

Bud received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and went on to receive his Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He and Marjorie Kramer were married on March 5, 1945 ,in Norfolk, Va.

Bud served in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a Naval Aviator, Helicopter Pilot, and Naval Intelligence Officer from September 1939 until his retirement in July 1970. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Alice Ulman in 1977. He is survived by their three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Ringkvist of Burlington, Marolyn and Bob Swanson of Omaha, Neb., and Diana “Dee” and Monte Robinson of Bow; six grandchildren, Randy, Troy, Brad, Kalin, Cindy, and Danya; eight great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Elenor Powers.

A private remembrance will be held for immediate family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any local veterans organization.
