Loraine Clark

Loraine Schoen Trinkle Clark was born in Nokomis, Ill., June 30, 1917. She was the oldest of four children born on a farm to Luke and Frances Schoen.

Loraine was raised in Waggoner, Ill., and married Charles Trinkle after graduating from high school in 1936. Together they had two children, Donald and Janet. The family moved to Compton, Calif., in 1944 to assist with the war effort.

The family was a member of Lynwood Lutheran Church, with Loraine an active member of the LWML, choir director for the junior and senior choirs and Sunday school/vacation Bible school teacher.

Tom and Loraine moved to Oak Harbor in 1982. They spent 19 years in Oak Harbor and were active members of Concordia and Oak Harbor Lutheran churches. Loraine continued as a choir director and was involved with the Stephen’s Ministry.

Their social life in Oak Harbor beyond church included square dancing, camping and the Retired Officers Club activities.

Due to her failing health, they moved back to California to be closer to their son and daughter. Christmas Day of 2002 Loraine began her struggle with pneumonia. Loraine died Jan. 22, 2003. She will be remembered in the hearts of her family as a shining example of what a wife, mother, grandmothers and great-grandmother should be. All who knew and loved her admired her warm smile and friendliness.
