Leon Robert Jette

Leon Robert Jette, 56, Army veteran, died April 17, 2003, at his residence in Havre, Mont., after a long battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place.He will be interred at the Fort Harrison Cemetery at a later date. There are no services planned at this time. Memorials in Leon’s honor may be made to Bear Paw Hospice, Disabled American Veterans, C/O Northern Montana Hospital, 1032 19th St., Havre, MT 59501

Aarrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home in Havre. Leon was born Jan. 20, 1947, in Missoula, Mont., to Francis and Helen (Might) Jette. He was raised and educated in Missoula and received a GED. He entered the Army on Nov. 24, 1967, and served in Vietnam and later in Germany as a heavy equipment operator. He was discharged in 1973. He entered into the US Army Reserves and was a non-commissioned officer. He later received his commission and in 1993 Leon retired from the reserves as a captain.

In 1969 he married Dottie Glass in Couer d’Alene, Idaho. There were two children born to this union. The couple later divorced. The couple moved to several places while in the military, finally settling in Helena, Mont. After the divorce Leon moved to Oak Harbor. Leon worked in life insurance sales after the Army. He moved to Havre in December of 2002 to be closer to his son and daughter-in-law.

Leon enjoyed drawing, woodworking, and fishing. He was a member of Mount Vernon VFW Post No. 933 and Havre VFW Post No. 497.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents Francis A. & Helen T. (Might) Jette. He is survived by daughter Michelle (Kerry) Reeder of Chandler, Ariz.; son Joseph (Tracey) Jette of Havre, Mont.; sister Myra (P.J.) Judge of Sumner; brothers Carl (Della) Jette of Mount Vernon and Alan (Connie) Jette of Mount Vernon; nephews and nieces including David Sexton of Seattle, Nicole Sexton of Sumner, and Jacob Jette, Travis Jette and Brad Jette, all of Mount Vernon.
